David J. Kramer is the founder and President of Kramer Procurement Solutions, Inc. He is the former Senior Vice President and General Counsel of The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company and Senior Vice President - Legal Affairs of its parent, Ahold USA (Retail). He has more than 15 years of experience in procurement, commercial law, ethics, mergers & acquisitions, compliance, and senior management.

Mr. Kramer founded Kramer Procurement Solutions to promote a unique negotiation methodology and procurement process he created and implemented at Stop & Shop and Ahold USA (Retail). This process is now the global standard at Ahold USA’s parent, Royal Ahold, one of the world’s largest food providers with operations in close to 30 countries and sales of close to $80 billion. In the first two years of program implementation, Mr. Kramer generated over $100 million in measurable savings to Stop & Shop and the Ahold USA supermarket companies.

Since 1999, Mr. Kramer trained over 3,000 Stop & Shop and Ahold retail employees with local and global procurement responsibilities in the art of principled negotiations and ethics. He led a staff of attorneys and business professionals to facilitate thousands of transactions using his proven practices. During his tenure, Mr. Kramer helped build a “virtual” law firm for assisting Ahold USA (Retail) operations, which -- without adding any overhead expense -- reduced the legal budget by 19%. His mergers & acquisitions experience includes high profile transactions such as Stop & Shop’s acquisitions of Purity Supreme, Mel Markets, and Peapod, Royal Ahold’s acquisition of Stop & Shop, and the divestiture of Stop & Shop’s dairy business.

Prior to his ten years at Stop & Shop, Mr. Kramer served as Corporate Counsel for The Stride Rite Corporation and as an attorney with the Boston-based law firms of Nutter McClennen & Fish and Hutchins & Wheeler, specializing in mergers & acquisitions, corporate, and securities law.

Mr. Kramer graduated from Georgetown University (B.S. 1984, Cum Laude) and Boston College Law School (J.D. 1987, Cum Laude), where he was Notes and Comments Editor of the Boston College International and Comparative Law Review.

Mr. Kramer is a faculty fellow at Babson College's School for Executive Education, a research fellow at Bentley College’s Center for Business Ethics, taught procurement best practices and negotiation skills as a guest lecturer at Cornell University and Nyenrode University (Holland), and has been a guest-speaker at Boston University’s School of Communications on Presentation Skills. Mr. Kramer has served on the Board of Directors of The Boston Private Industry Council and currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Massachusetts Department of Social Services.
